The Murals - The Nave
The iconography of the nave is taken from the early Christian church,
reflecting the desire of the Catholic Apostolic Church for the union all
Christianity. On the north wall are scenes from the life of Christ showing
the nativity, baptism, ministry, last supper, betrayal, entombment, resurrection
and ascension. It is noteworthy that the Passion is not depicted, reflecting
the paramount importance to the Catholic Apostolic Church of the resurrection
and the after-life.
The south wall illustrates the Old Testament precursors, starting with
Adam and Eve (opposite the Nativity), Cain and Abel (opposite the massacre
of the Innocents) through scenes of God’s Covenant with Noah, Abraham
and Joseph, ending with three scenes from the life of David: anointing,
Ark of the Covenant and David giving the plans of the Temple to Solomon:
the Temple of Jerusalem being the precursor to the Kingdom of Christ on
Earth.
